In the past year, the economic dividend in Europe and the United States has weakened. Under the influence of factors such as the continuing crisis in Ukraine, high global inflation and the pressure on inventories in Europe and the United States, the export value of Chinese household electrical products has declined. According to the statistics of China's customs, in 2022, the export value of China's household electrical products was 85.499.9 billion US dollars, down 13.3% year on year. Zhou Nan, secretary-general of the Home Appliances Branch of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products, predicted that the export of China's home appliance products is expected to start to pick up in the second quarter of 2023. At the same time, with the further optimization of epidemic control measures, the international business exchanges of foreign trade enterprises will increase significantly, and the market development efforts of Chinese foreign trade enterprises will be significantly enhanced in 2023.

The growth rate of exports to Europe and the United States declined, and exports to the Middle East and ASEAN increased

From a regional perspective, at present, Asia is still the largest export market of China's household appliances. According to the data, from January to November 2022, China's export of household electrical products to Asia reached US $38.16 billion, up 5.2% year on year, but significantly slowed down compared with the growth rate of 23.0% in the same period in 2021. "Japan and South Korea are the main markets for China's home appliance products exported to Asia. The sluggish demand of the two major markets in Japan and South Korea in the first 11 months of 2022 is the main reason for the slowdown in the growth of China's home appliance products exports to Asia." Zhou Nan said that in the first 11 months of 2022, except Japan and South Korea, the export volume of China's home appliance products to most countries in the Middle East and ASEAN region maintained growth. According to the statistics of the Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electronics, thanks to the dividend impact of the continuing effectiveness of the RCEP and the stability of the supply chain between China and ASEAN, in the first 11 months of 2022, China's domestic appliance exports to ASEAN 10 countries totaled US $11.25 billion, up 15.7% year on year.

In 2022, under the influence of the continuous fermentation of the energy crisis and other factors, the market demand and purchasing power of European countries are declining day by day, and the export volume to the European market has declined significantly. According to the statistics of the Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electronics, from January to November 2022, China's export of household electrical products to Europe was 26.55 billion US dollars, down 12.9% year on year. Among them, exports to Germany fell by 15.6% and exports to the UK by 20.9%.

Influenced by factors such as the rising inflation and the strengthening of the US dollar, the export of Chinese household electrical products to the Latin American market fell sharply in the first 11 months of 2022. According to the statistics of the Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electronics, from January to November 2022, the export value of Chinese household electrical products to the Latin American market was 7.4 billion US dollars, down 6.5% year on year, of which the export value of Chinese household electrical products to the Mexican market was 2.32 billion US dollars, up 11.1% year on year; The export value to the Brazilian market was 1.64 billion US dollars, down 18.9% year on year.

Under the background of high global inflation and the crisis in Ukraine, the Arab League market has not been affected too much. In the first 11 months of 2022, the export of China's household electrical products to the Arab League market has made steady progress. According to the statistics of the Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electronics, from January to November 2022, China's export of household electrical products to the Arab League reached 7.21 billion US dollars, up 11.2% year on year. "Since last year, affected by the Ukrainian crisis and the relaxation of restrictions on the COVID-19, the economies of countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which are highly dependent on the development of the oil industry and tourism, have recovered strongly, thus promoting the increase of consumer disposable income in these countries, and to some extent, boosting the export growth of Chinese household appliances to the Arab League region." Zhou Nan said.

The export volume of household appliances decreased and the export price of household appliances increased

From the perspective of products, the export performance of the six categories of household appliances monitored by the Chamber of Commerce for Machinery and Electronics in the first 11 months of 2022 is still sluggish, and the demand for each category continues to weaken, especially the export volume of large household appliances, kitchen and bathroom and kitchen small household appliances has declined significantly, showing a downturn of both volume and volume. However, personal care products are driven by the average price of products, and the export shows a trend of volume reduction and price increase.

The export of heaters belonging to environmental household appliances once increased significantly. "Last year, due to the crisis in Ukraine, the price of energy in many countries in Europe rose, pushing the demand for electric appliances such as heaters to increase gradually. Since May, European importers have added various kinds of heating equipment to solve the winter heating problem. However, since September, the purchase of heaters has come to an end, and the export volume has begun to decline significantly. The data shows that the export volume of Chinese heaters in the first 11 months of 2022 has decreased by 0.8% year on year," Zhou Nan said, Although China's heater export volume did not increase significantly in the first 11 months of 2022, with the continuous fermentation of the energy crisis, China's heating product export still has a good prospect in 2023.

The export volume of household appliances shows a trend of differentiation. "In the first 11 months of 2022, the consumption demand of 'star products' during the epidemic period such as dry-cleaning machines, vacuum cleaners, hand dryers and floor waxers was significantly lower than that of the previous year, especially the export volume of dry-cleaning machines in the first 11 months was only more than 4000 units, not half of the same period in 2021," Zhou Nan said.

In addition to the six categories, the export of home appliance parts and components continued to grow in the first 11 months of 2022, up 13.0% year on year; However, the export volume decreased by 0.4%, and the overall export scale was slightly lower than that of the same period in 2021.
